Northern Lights

"Stand your ground. Don't fire unless fired upon, but if they mean to have a war, let it begin here"  Those words were spoken by Captain John Parker, the militia captain of what is commonly thought of to be Minutemen, but actually were a small detachment from the main body of the Massachusetts Militia. They numbered only seventy seven men and met with an advance guard ahead of the British army who marched towards Lexington on route to Concord. Outnumbering the militia ten to one, Major John Pitcairn in charge of the seven hundred British light infantry was surprised to meet the small opposition from the colonists. He is recalled at ordering them to throw down their arms and disperse back to their homes. While some did just that, most of the seventy seven held true while each side repeated the command to their men to hold fire.  It isn't clear who fired first, but a shot rang out and the British responded by firing several volleys into the militia. When the smoke clea...

Name For You

Today on the drive home I got stuck for ten minutes at a toll booth exiting the toll road. Four cars were ahead of me in the cash or credit lane and even though I have a transponder and could of taken one of the other lanes, I chose this one as I wouldn't need to change lanes afterwards and easily turn off on the final stage of my drive home. As I waited there I became aware of how impatient a lot of the other drivers were with having to wait their turn to either pay or let their transponder open the gate for them. After a few minutes had passed I realized the truck in front of me was trying to reverse to switch to a new lane. In order for him to do so I had to reverse and I was fine with waiting so I put my vehicle in park and refused to back up for him. It would of been a simple thing to do, but I had no intention of backing up and risking someone rear ending me as I try and accommodate this guy in front of me. After another minute of trying to convince me by backing further up...

Overkill

A lot of times I want to write a blog and I feel like my hands are tied. I feel like I can't write about what I truly want or how I really feel about a situation for fear that I'll get backlash. I mean really, look at today's world, you screw up once and people want to crucify you. They'll call for your job and next your head. Mind you, I'm only on my second blog in so I'm rather new to all this, but still, I wonder if it wouldn't be wise to keep my thoughts to myself. I could keep my opinions bottled up, but sooner or later the words just spill forth. Whether they are here on this blog or in one of the many journals I keep, the dam always breaks. I consider it a way to relieve the stress I have thanks to an over active mind. I find writing to be therapeutic even if my words never see an audience. It's a way to spill my feelings and emotions out on to paper or on the computer and just get them out from within me. It's my way to empty the pools of my ...

Play the game....

Life is funny. From time to time I get caught up in the back and forth of life. Work starts getting a bit too much or life has a funny way of tossing too much shit my way and most every time I take a step back and think, this is all just a game. Society...society is a game we all agree to play. Technically we don't have to play, but too many of us get caught up in what we want out of life that we forget about the small things and start following a path towards the life we want to carve out for us. We get lost in the details, the work days and the commutes, the traffic jams and the long tiring days. We get lost and sometimes it's hard to remember that life is just a game. When you get down to the details, we are sacks of flesh, able to see, hear, touch, taste and feel. We have complex minds able to think logically...and illogically as well. No one really knows much of how we came to be here, though a lot of people have theories on that, but no one really knows for sure. Some say...
